What is an Overrunning Clutch?
An overrunning clutch, commonly referred to as a starter drive clutch or one-way clutch, is a critical component installed inside the starter drive assembly. It transmits torque from the starter motor to the engine flywheel during cranking and automatically disengages when the engine starts and exceeds starter motor speed.
